The Lustine Center
7,500 sf, $1.25 million renovation of a 1950 car showroom into a community fitness/arts facility. The building was a landmark showroom on ‘Auto Mile’ in Hyattsville, and is now a landmark centerpiece of a new housing development on an extensive urban brownfield site. The design maintained and magnified existing design and graphic aspects of the 50’s car culture the building represents. Project is occupied and in use.
Led the team from start to finish for the revitalized Lustine Center in Hyattsville, MD, transforming it from a 1950s car showroom to a dynamic community fitness and arts hub. Preserved its historic significance while enhancing its role as a centerpiece of urban redevelopment.
